The origins of the church of St. Nicholas date back to the 13th century however what we can see today is the result of renovations from the 20th century. The church is currently out of use due to damage caused by the L'Aquila earthquake of 6 April 2009.
The church, built in the last century (1957), is located in the town's main square.
The first documentation of the church of S. Salvatore dates back to 1183, when it was mentioned in a papal bull of Lucio III as falling within the castle walls.On the same site, or in its vicinity, a new larger church was probably built in the 14th century.
